 Berlin (ots) - Mars, a family business, is taking proactive steps at the International Green Week to address how sustainable business practices can positively impact the climate and the well-being of both people and animals. With a 30m2 stand in Hall 3.2, Stand 401, Mars emphasizes its climate promise to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across the entire supply chain (Scope 1 to 3). The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its value chain by 50% by 2030, saving approximately 15 million tons of CO2 based on the 2015 baseline.

 

The stand provides clear explanations and examples of the measures taken across various areas like agriculture, logistics, and consumption. Visitors can engage in competitions highlighting that "knowledge is fun" and sustainable.

 

From January 19th to 28th, 2024, visitors to Stand 401 (joint BVE stand) can expect:

 

Colorful information, competitions, and chances to win Mars products and M&M'S store vouchers.

* Regular appearances by the M&M'S character Purple.

* Delicious coffee specialties and snacks for visitors.

* On January 26th, the stage of the Federal Association of the Food Industry will feature discussions on dental health and insights into Ben's Original rice.

Carsten Simon, General Manager of Mars Wrigley in Germany, emphasizes, "Climate protection is one of the most important challenges of our time. Green Week gives us the opportunity to exchange ideas with consumers about this." He adds, "For Mars, climate protection is an obligation and an opportunity to build our business sustainably for the future."

 

Mars aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and by 80% by 2050, achieving net-zero in 2050 through high-quality carbon credits.

 



In Germany, Mars is part of the American family business Mars, Incorporated, achieving sales of around 1.9 billion euros in 2022. The business areas include Mars Wrigley, Mars Petcare, Royal Canin, and Mars Food & Nutrition, employing over 2,200 people from over 50 nations.

 

Mars is recognized for renowned brands such as WHISKAS, PEDIGREE, SHEBA, M&M'S, SNICKERS, TWIX, and BEN'S ORIGINAL. The family business is committed to sustainability and has invested over $1 billion to become sustainable within a generation.
